TarantaCeltica
TarantaCeltica is a cross-cultural music collaboration initiated by master percussionists Andrea Piccioni and Dave Boyd with Ten42 Productions in Autumn 2022.
The project brings together the hypnotic rhythmic energy of Southern Italian Tarantella and the uplifting boldness of the Irish Tradition, to create an ecstatic high energy hybrid of passion and joy. Piccioni and Boyd, with an ensemble of world class multi-instrumentalists, draw inspiration from the singing and dance music of Calabria and Puglia, and from the rich and textured repertoire of Irish jigs, reels, polkas and songs.
Emerging from this process is a unique performance event that entwines and unwinds these vibrant musical and cultural traditions; a collaboration that effortlessly bridges cultural borders, bringing a thrilling contemporary insight into deep and ancient music.
